Default New tyres for mk2 RS focus

Hi all, the time has come we're my mk2 focus RS needs some new front tyres. I currently have the original continental sport contact 3. But they do get a hard life and only lasted 3000 miles. I've been very happy with them but is there anything better for normal road use, when I say better I don't mean life but better grip as I drive very hard

Been thinking perhaps Michelin pilot super sports if any one has used them. Vehicle won't be used much between now and when it's warmer so maybe a road legal track tyre.

conti's are shite and suffer from perishing inbetween the tread you cannot get better wet grip than Michelin there's an offer next week in Costco you'll get £40 back from Michelin for 2 tyres bought.

Well thanks for your views. Personally I dought ill ever get perishing on tyres as I wore the last set out in 3000 miles, Or 3 months of hard abuse. I think I have decided to go for a set of the Michelin pilot super sports. Camskill sell them for £160 a tyre and I'll see if they grip as well as the reviews they've got. Thanks

I've just bought a set of Goodyear F1s for my ST but yet to fit them. I have CS3s all round and I find them OK. Well crap on any greasy/damp/wet surface though.

I've got pilot super sports on mine and tbh I don't think they were worth the extra money over the Contis
My cars coming up to 24k miles and changed the con tis at around 12k and the mich's have a bit left but i really don't think they have the grip of the contis

Might try the pilot sport cups next time!

Well thank you for that. Will need to possibly look into this further, they were recommended by a few people. Only thing I don't like about the pilot sport cups is lack of grip they offer for our damp British roads. I certainly would never get 12k miles out of my tyres.

I cannot match the price you got mate coming in at £30 per tyre dearer and that's direct from Michelin.

Well either camskill buy in bulk and get massive discounts or we all just get ripped off.

I work for a massive wholesaler with huge buying powers and very little mark up on tyres so don't know how they do it.we only sell tyres with a manufactures date of less than 3 years so don't know if camskills are older than that.

Well I bit the bullet today and had 4 Michelin pilot super sports fitted, I had been thinking over which tyres to fit and decided to give them a go. All I can say is wow, what a difference, beat the contisport 3 hands down and the grip is superb. Would recommend them and will certainly be using them from now on.

Just to mix things up I put Bridgestone re050's on my motor last year. Not an RS I know, but a very torquey mondeo st tdci.
I find them really good, way better than the conti's and yoko's I've had in the past.
That's on damp country lanes too... Not brilliant on wear but that's probably 400lbs and my right foot to blame there...
Hope this helps...!
