Cool went to view a VR6 today something wasn't right???

right went to view a vw vr6 today, the guys name was ricky, even stated it on ebay to contact rick and his number was there, car was at his mums house and he lived in a area about 4 miles away he said, even stated the right area on ebay which is about 4 miles. his mum answered the door no problem. i looked at the logboox to check the vin number with the car that matched up correctly and the owners name was peter who lived in an area about 7 miles away! sound dodgy or what?

What did he say when you asked who Peter was and why it was in his name?

My bike is registered in oxford at my brother address about 90 miles away, he collected it for me and put his address and name on it by mistake.

It's a common thing I do this a lot if I'm buying to resell as said if you change the logbook it adds another owner on it and also delays further sale due to waiting for logbook

Does sound a bit dodgy to me, I'd walk away to be on the safe side, plenty of other cars out there.

It says on the front of the logbook that the registered keeper is not the legal owner. Mearly the person responsible to tax or SORN it. I wouldn't worry.

so would i, this rick guy says he has owned it for two years, plenty of time to get it swapped over! another thing that worried me is that there was a lot of broken glass in it from a window being smashed?

I would not buy a motor off anyone but the registered keeper on log book.
You lot are far too trusting IMO.

Could be quite genuine, my family all live within those sorts of distances from me and we border counties so could be classed as a different county entirely, i've had to store a car on my mums drive before and sold it from there too. There could be dishonest intentions for not transferring ownership on his part though ie speeding fines etc..

Broken glass, i've had a car broken into and it took forever to clear up all the glass!

Could be plenty of explanations to debunk any of your concerns but while not a big headache if there's any doubt i'd walk away, especially on the strength of your other thread.
