54 Mondeo TDCI 130 serious misfire
Hi, there has been several threads on this issue, but after trying most of the simple fixes I think it's time to describe my Mondeo symptoms and seek help before I put into ford garage.
Car was running great then suddenly there was a loss of power. I thought the turbo had blown, no warning lights. I continued to drive home, in what I thought was limp mode but after about 10 miles car started to misfire. Still no warning lights, but decided to get RAC to take me home.
Car starts no problem, ticks over and revs up OK in the drive. No warning lights but a little smoke out of exhaust. When I try to drive away the engine misfires badly, when it hits about 1800revs; car is essentially undriveable!
Read fault codes and got P0100, P0200 and P0300. Inspected turbo pipes, no obvious signs of splits or leaks.
Changed air flow sensor, no change. Changed erg valve, no change. Took off turbo air inlet pipe and check turbo, rotated freely, no signs of damage and only a very very small amount of side travel.
I have concluded it is nothing to do with air supply but more likely fuel delivery, but I do not have any test gear for this, hence garage next move. Unless there is someone out there who has experienced the exact same problem and can suggest a solution?
Thanks for listening.

Whats the mileage? You can buy F-super off ebay for about Ł20 load it on your laptop and with that you can read live data on a test drive.
The dtc codes p0100 show ....mass air flow circuit malfunction p0200 is injector circuit malfunction p0300 is random misfire detected
Sounds like a fueling problem to me so First thing I would do is to drain fuel filter off into a plastic bag or tray or something and run a magnet through the fuel, if theres any iron fillings in it, you will need a fuel pump. If its clear change the fuel filter to a Ford, Delphi or Bosch one as they are very sensitive on filters. If that don't make a difference get injectors tested, you may need more than one injector, the new f super allows you to code the injectors to the ecu so you can buy the injectors and save yourself garage costs by fitting and programing them yourself

I think it is an F-super I have that I used to read the original fault codes. I can also read the live engine data plus look at injectors coding.
Mileage is 80k.
I think you are right that it is a fuelling problem, since the loss of power was very sudden.
I will remove fuel filter and check for any debris.
Thanks for your suggestion.

It 'could' be an electrical issue, fuelling issues don't generally cause misfires - just poor performance and cutting out. I'd be having a very good look at the wiring, particularly around the battery.
Have you changed the MAF?

I had symptoms similar to this a few weeks ago when my mums St tdci injectors became damaged due to contaminated fuel that we brought from a well known "every little helps" supermarket resulting in a AA recovery from the m6 toll services up to her home in North Yorks...although I had different fault code p0251! Ive heard that for reliability there very fuel dependent so 99% of the time all of our mondeo tdci's are run on bp or shell... the only time we didn't on this car the injectors shat themselves.....my mums st has also only done 81k on a 05 plate. Our 130bhp tdcis have done 160k 155k and 75k and all are run on Branded fuel 90% of the time and all are on original fuel pumps injectors as we get a good discount at fords all are serviced with ford filters

If it was wiring I would have thought the fault would have been presence reving up in driveway, but engine ticks over and revs without any problem. It is only once I put it into gear and drive away does it start to misfire, or seems like a misfire, and drives like I have kangaroo fuel!
I had a quick look at wiring but nothing obvious, wiring actually looks good and clean. Will look a bit further at hidden looms at weekend.
