Right people I know these calipers a bit of a tight squeeze under 15inch puma wheels.I know people trim the calipers down with a grinder.So which parts of the caliper need to be trimmed down so they dont catch the inside of the wheels.

I know some people might think this is dodgey but its only a bit that needs to be trimmed off.

So using the pic can someone point out which parts of the caliper need to be trimmed/grinded.

 

Mods please dont move to the forf puma room cause my question wont get answered in there cause I dont think many people look in there lol.

 

Try a wheel on, spin it, see where its catching and remove the excess meat?

The two raised areas on the top and sides need cutting off.
And the top front needs grinding down.
The edges of the carrier need grinding down aswell.
3 mm wheel spacers will be needed.
Have a look on zsoc plenty of info and pics on there about it

 

I did think of that matey.I just thought I will do the grinding now whilst I have the calipers at work.

have a game of caliper grinding roulette (just invented it in my head). see how much you dare grind away before knacking the caliper. sorry for being an unhelpful nob!

 

just make sure you use a flap disk so its nice and neat

 

Just remembered im a member of the zsoc. I still cant see any threads on trimming the calipers down.

 

Dont worry I will make a good job of it.

 

If u haven't got a jig then take a little off at a time and test fit
It's approx 2 mm on the top front and tapers back
The two indents will nearly disappear

Sorry Glenn, there's a picture in PP somewhere but it's not in that guide I only looked at it the other day as well, it was linked off here!

 

Bought some ST170 discs today.I tried them in my 15inch steel wheel.They look massive.

 

 

40 quid.bargain.

 

if you have a spare hub mate you can stick the disc and caliper on there rather than having to hoist your motor up in the air time and again when trial fitting

 

don't forget you've got to open up the holes to 12mm with a step drill too, a few seconds work if you have the step drill, plus it centres the hole too, don't be pikey about it with a round file

 

I was hoping to take the car to work tomorrow and trial fit them. I wanna grind the calipers down for the clearance.

 

I just bought a puma too as a fun car, these cars drive great

Im so glad i just bought diffrent wheels making it is simple bolt on conversion other than drilling the hubs lol.

 

But the wheels don't mean shit, you still have to drill the hubs as one uses 10mm bolts and the other uses 12mm bolts
And without drilling they won't fit, no matter if you could get 20" rims to fit lol

Glenn, its not that hard to do in situ. Dont plumb them in if you want to clean up the callipers after, just bolt the callipers on and trial and error basically, its only a couple of mm off each front edge.

And ps the callipers will NOT fit under steel wheels! Unless you get 16" mondeo ones lol

Use the same brake lines too as you can't get those little brackets apart or on their own so either buy new lines at £40 a side or use your old ones
