Bit oldschool these days.

They work fine. However they are only any use for fixed radar equipment like gatsos.

The advertisement blurb used to go on about bullshit about being able to pick up lasers etc but the fatal flaw is you are only going to pick up laser when the camera is switched on measuring speed. That only happens if they are pointing it at your car in which case they will already have your initial speed. The manufacturers then went on to claim youd get early warning off reflections from cars infront being scanned, however how often to most people speed significantly when there is someone closeish infront??? as a consequence some of them are really sensitive and get set off by infra-red door openers outside shops and traffic light sensors etc....

In reality they wont do anything you cant do yourself by being observant.

Yeah I haven't ever been done and I am sensible with my speed on the road as I drive a fair bit in my job so have never really bothered to find out much about them. I'd be interested if it detects the hand held LIDOR but as you say once it's pointed at you you're fucked anyway if over limit.

Only use I can see is to tell you if you have been caught or not!

No experience of the current stuff but unless the technology has advanced somewhat they're a bit useless imho!

We borrowed one for a journey to a show and it went off more times for the sensors on automatic doors on petrol station shops than for camera's! As warren says, its better to be sharp than rely on them. Still, not like you've shelled out for one.

I had one back in around year 2000...

it would go off all the time if driving through town, or past petrol stations etc...

got fed up with it and gave it away lol
