Ford Focus 1.8 TDCi 2008
Hi All,
I'm new to this site and i am looking for some assistance. My car is displaying the Engine Malfunction message when i am pushing over 2k revs, also there is a lot of black smoke coming from the exhaust. It doesn't stop my car from runnning and the turbo kicks in ok, but i am concerned i might have a problem with the turbo. A friend has a basic ECU checker and that reports no faults, but am i right in thinking there is a more indepth checker that can drill down to the issue? Suggestions, opinions, help gratefully accepted
Thanks in advance

If the engine malfunction warning is on the dash it should have stored an error code.
Need to get it on the proper Ford IDS diagnostic tool ideally.
Any hissing noises on acceleration? If so could be a burst turbo/intercooler pipe.
Could be EGR valve, could be a lot of things, needs diagnosing properly.
