Considering a project in the future that would run a modern alloy v8 ls1 etc but due to fuel costs would have to run on lpg...
I have been told (true or not ) that the engine will carbon up and the lpg will knacker it
Is this true or just a load of baloney
Also any other downsides to running on lpg ?
Ta.

The engine should be perfectly happy on LPG, I have converted many of the slightly older LS series engines.
Kit wise, don't skimp, use a fully sequential system, Prins would work very well and has for me given proven results, good economy and reliability.

my hairy crystal balls worked very well
lol
and as the lad says,
buy the best, and economy wise little loss on power = few mpg less but its the pump price that makes people convert.
dont get owt done without a certificute

I know two people who have been running lpg for years ( v8 jeep and a camper van) they have never had any problems.
The only issue I would have in my part of the country is the availability, I would have to go out my way too refuel.
Do it!

Result.been given rough prices of circa Ł1600 to convert, sound about right ?
Will all be done with proper paperwork as pointless otherwise
Now can a supercharger be a viable option with lpg?

Ł1600 is a fair price for a v8. What system is that using ?
No issues doing a supercharged engine, injectors would need to be suitable and you will probably need twin vaporizers. I've done a fair few f150 lightnings with heaps of power and they all worked great.

Not sure what system, was just testing the water so to speak
What set up would you recommend, looking at a pretty much stock spec with 3-360 bhp,as don't want to stress the lump but have plenty of torques
Supercharger would be a later mod

I've only been involved with the higher end systems which are all quite pricey. Generally anything with a v8 in was around Ł2200 from memory.
If it was my car I'd use a Prins Multipoint system, one vaporizer, the biggest tank you can get in there ( tanks fill to 80%) of their capacity.
The only issue with Prins is I believe they can only be installed by dealers now as all vehicle info needs to be kept for their records.
I run my daily driver 1.8t audi tt on it, no problems with it besides takes bit of time to fill up tanks compared to petrol . I get 240 miles to Ł28 gas , do lose bit of mpg but cheaper cost of lpg makes up big saving.
