Nurburgring trip.
Just waiting to be picked up, off to the 'ring for a long weekend.
Going in mate's E46 M3, bit of a baptism of fire as it's been a damaged repairable car which has had most of the front end replaced and he's never had a RWD car before
Should be fun.

The 'ring really is the greatest place on earth! I've been over there twice this year in the AMG, can't get enough of it! Have a great time, be safe and tell your mate to just drive to his abilities and not try any heroics as the track will always win.........

Hmm, interesting trip.

One particular lap coming round Galgenkopf, sounded and felt like OSF wheel was coming off, limped off track, turned out to be the OSF strut had turned in the hub and machined the wheel rim. RSR wanted 35euro + vat to swap a tyre/rim, so Paul ended up doing a dodgy car park deal at Micheala's guesthouse in Welcerath, bought a set of Team Dynamics 18" Pro-Race with Avon ZZRs - One way to sort it.
That was part of an M3 18" wheel..

Monday turned into T13 and spun, turned out to be the M3's PAS fluid, the banjo had came loose out of the pump and dumped oil so was charged recovery to ATG and a spillage fee, about 340 euros altogether. Luckily no-one else crashed on it, although a DAU plate mk2 Golf span too.
Was mad busy Sunday after being wet Saturday, lots of closures as usual.
Oil light came on advising top-up.. 32 euro 50 cents for 1 litre of oil (Castrol Edge, with M3 & Nurburgring tax applied)
Was good to get back over, broke up the trip back with a night in Gent (awesome steak) and bit of sight-seeing in Bruges today.
Will add some pics when I sort them.

Anyone looking for 'ring pics from TF , found this great link.

Even Monday was busy.
The roundabout near the grand prix entrance back through the village? I remember queueing back in the overspill carpark behind the small roundabout behind the Devil's Diner and that was bad enough......

This article from Dale at BtG shows how busy it was on Sunday.

Seems like you guys had a great weekend, always nice to be @ the ring
Would you go back with the M3 ?
How many laps did you do before things went wrong ?
Never seen it that busy, wouldn't like it

You said before you went it was a baptism of fire, damaged reparied car, sounds like the trip ended up costing a lot of money. sounds to me like you had more luck than bad luck, could have easily ended up killing your selves, or even worse some one else. People spend a lot of time and money getting their cars prepared for a trip like this for a good reason.
Just because the car is damaged repaired doesn't make it dangerous.
Looks like they just had some bad luck with things like the pas banjo bolt etc but balanced out with good luck with the spin not causing anything worse
Looks like a good trip and as the op has had several ring trips before it wasn't like he was unaware of what to expect.

As soon as we span off we did the right thing and got off the track, onto the grass not to cause any further fluid spillages.
Someone earlier in the weekend had dropped oil over half the length of the track, trying to limp off to save a recovery fee, instead of doing the right thing and getting off the track onto the grass immediately.
No getting away from the fact it is a dangerous place, and sometimes the implications of what 'could' happen don't bear thinking about.
I could tell you a lot of horror stories.
