Can anyone help with this Granada Head unit
Hi guys. Purchased this off ebay but low and behold doesnt come with any of the cables to join any of it together and the guy threw all the cables away. but yes so you understand my frustration. the plan was to put it in my sierra but if i cant get hold of cables im guessing its worth jack all.
can anyone advise if the parts are availible and if so what they are.
either that or are there any solutions that you may know of.
would be most grateful of advise otherwise it will probably just go in the loft to remain forever!
Cheers guys and here are some pics
here is the headunit

Haven't dealt with stereos in a few years but you're going to have trouble getting that to work. Virtually all older Fords use the same two plugs to give them sound and power, but some rarer, higher model cars (Granada, Probe, Galaxy etc...) used a smart cable to supply the sound and go between the stereo and often a separate amplifier under the seat from memory.
I can't remember if the dual CD and cassette separate stereos like yours used the smart cable for the same reason, but that's the same fitting for sure.
Best bet is to cut the cables out of one of those cars or pin it out and make your own loom and give it ago. Good luck!

Ah right, that makes it slightly more complicated again! But at least you know what you need then.
All the speaker wires will go to the amp, then you will need a loom to give power to the amp. You can probably buy a smart cable still and that will link the sound between the stereo and amp.
The original Sierra power loom will plug into the cassette/radio part and power it. You will then need a loom to supply the CD part, which will attach to the cassette/radio.

Think this is the smart cable you need, but check if you can!

Im pretty certain that you need the split loom that gos from tape to cd as one wont play without the other.
the other thing you could do is mate is find a 2007 tape player that comes with wiring fr it,if i remember correctly there were no internal differences in the 2040 models just some of the 2007 had different internals.
if you get stuck give me a shout my mate has a few knocking about and some wiring which may possibly from a granada/escort as its the flatter amp i saw at his they are different to the brick style sapph amps.

you need the following because you don't have the split loom as found in some cars
the early ones were different to the ones that came in the middle to the one you have
you need a loom to power the head unit which is standard, but then you need a different loom to power the amp and the cd player and a different loom to collect the cd player to the head unit and a different lead to connect the head unit to the amp and a different lead to connect the amp to the spakers

thats a fair few wires to get ha ha. sounds doable for sure. if anyone can point me in the direction of them i would be most grateful. already been round all the scrap yards i know of but no old fords to speak of.
Its just one of those things i like this particular radio as its similar to the one out of my first sierra but has a CD player. i know it will probably not sound so great but its not my daily car so i can make do for style he he he
cheers guys, you really know your sh*t!

the earlier versions had the split loom to power the head unit and the cd player so no extra wires needed and then one lead that connected the cd player to the head unit and then that went onto the amp which had a separate power supply and then the speakers were the same plug as before, you have the later one which needs specific wires for each, which i don't have
they were also colour coded so you knew that you would need a yellow or blue or red plug on the end for each specific application, whereas the one you've got now needs a different plug for each application, the same plug but with different mouldings on the end so you can't just swap the wires and plug them in
what you need to do is find an at least 93 spec granada or a scorpio in the scrapyard and all the wires will be in there and on a separate individual sub looms so you can remove them all in one go
