Default Ive 8K..what car?

Apologies in advance i know these pop up every once in a while

Options are
Focus ST...winning so far...
Evo 7 but its a stretch i know..
Golf R32 stretching it again..
Seat ibiza/leon R's, but just feel too plastic to me
Scoobie doo's ive really warmed too so their in too

NOT an option END OF
vauxhalls of any kind except for a zafira vxr but dont need 7 seats really.
mazda's just not me
BMW's are lovely but sadly a no in my neck of the woods.
volvo's ugly past the 850 imop
renaults nope.
cosworths

Ive grown up but not given up i just want safe, reliable, FAST,maintainable without maclaren to hand and ideally not for the full 8k

you know be a dad taxi but enjoy it too.

Suggestion's or op's on the winning options would be much appreciated

ST's just dont do it for me, the fuel costs don't match the performance IMO.

Octavia VRS gets my vote. Can't fault mine. Best car i've owned

Golfs really dont perform, you'd be better with an Audi S3...
Scoobies are nice, but i dont know alot about them tbh.

I know you said no, but why can't you have a bmw?

My choice would be an FRS mk1, but i couldnt use it as a daily... Im not helping am i lol?

If its quick you want I think the evo 7 wins, but if there are more criteria to fill (like running costs) then focus rs.

If you want something properly quick you will probably have to sacrifice reliability.

If i was to spend 8K and wanted a daily, reliable motor that was a laugh i think i would probably be looking into a clio 197 with a fair bit of change for the rainy day fund and an RStuner.

The VAG stuff is so good, but i find them all boring.
But dont know really, cars have got good recently, these days everything is excelent really, as well as having a reliable, safe and quiet bus im get the hankering for more basic and raw car, a FRST starts to appeal a lot.

Honda Integra DC5 Type R? Great fun, quick enough, reliable, cheap to run, easy on juice, look lovely etc....

Nissan 350Z (might be a pain having 2 seats)

Mny thanks fella's

Just to clarify my thread intention..

Been approved 8k on Finance...
I was just hoping that just because i dont really have a choice not to do finance due to personal circs(very ill relative..) i just thought i could make the best of it(never had finance) and get something i can live with and enjoy for the term of agreement PLUS my points in post one.

Just wondered "if" now ive been accepted at one place "MIGHT" i get accepted elsewhere on something really(well to me) awesome like an EVO 7...if so options was all

BMW insurance is a no-no

MK1 FRS I CANT get finance on(??)due to its age(??)

If you aren't bothered about being different then I suppose being a Ford Fan go for the ST. Pretty reliable, safe, but just boring. They're a pretty inefficient engine for the power output but they're fine. Just not fast.

Ye its strange how insurance companies work, was quoted Ł1700 to insure a celica gt4 st205 model, similar sort of age impreza/cossie/evo, like Ł5500+

It works out alot cheaper...

The rule with finance is that the car cannot be more than 10 years old by the end of the term, so if your finance agreement runs for 5 years you cant but a car older than 5 years.
If you've been approved in one place then you will probably be approved elsewhere.
Go to your bank and ask them to beat your finance quote but for a personal loan. If its a loan then it isnt attached to the car and for that reason you can buy what you really want, for example an evo 7 or mk1 focus rs etc

Bank loan is lower interest, not secured against the car. Winner all round

evo 7 shouldn't realy be a struggle at that money
i've just sold my 7 couple days ago
its was proven at 413bhp, high spec, tidy car
went for 6k, theres loads on sale at crazy prices but they just dont sell
if somebody wants to sell 1 then they need to be realistic about the current values
and they're just not making the same money that they were 12-18 months ago

Yeah im very tempted for one, trouble is nice one's are 500+ mile away on 80k+ miles and tbh i just dont trust street dealers, no offence to any on here but atleast with a Ford MD ive a place to go ranting should i get stitched, No rottwielers and deep pits to negotiate first

Again many many thanks fella's

Mind telling us your expendable income after expenses? Kind of has a bearing on a suggestion.

Out of the cars you have listed I would say Focus ST, I have one and love it, nice inside (ST3 - not keen on the garish interior of the 2's) nice to drive, granted its not the best on fuel (I average about 25 according to the computer although its barely used to every time I do drive it its somewhat spirited!) and they aren't the fastest out the box but I think there Is lots of potential relatively cheaply.

I used to have an Evo VI which was 380 bhp and although it drove awesome and was ridiculously quick, it used to use fuel like it had a hole in the bottom of the tank! also it wasn't nice to try and drive it normally, just wanted to be peddled everywhere and im under no doubt that if I had had it for much longer or used it as a daily I would have been banned or in prison!! cant comment on how a standard one is in comparison.

Scooby - had a 04 plate wagon and loved the drive of that too, felt faster than the focus for having around the same power but seemed very plasticy inside, do like the look of hawkeye ones though.

golf R32, nice cars but for me the mk4's look too dated now in comparison to the rest of the cars on your list.

Sorry to be in the BMW brigade but if it was my money id be looking for a 535D msport touring with the 19" spiders, economical, fast enough as standard and fairly rapid with a remap and look very classy but understated imo

I didn't realise finance was going to be involved.

IMHO, if you need to have finance on something, you can't afford to own it, so don't buy it.
Harsh maybe, but that's my view on things.
