Default MK6 Escort GTI Track Project

Got this little bargain for a tidy sum as someone was looking for scrap money for her. I love the Escorts and there aren't so many of them around on the track these days so thought I would make it my mission to give her a bit of TLC and make her a bit faster (or at least try!)

A little rusty but nothing too difficult really!

knocked off the rust and did a bit of welding here and there as the rust hole were bigger than I first thought and then changed over the spoiler for a different look (maybe not to everyone's taste I appreciate)

Gave the wheels a little bit of a clean up and had some Hammerite knocking about so thought I'd see what they came up like before buying any wheel spray - That said I think they have come out alright!?!

Booked it in for a little run round Brands to see how it went.........Not too bad really but just not enough power to keep up with anything thrashy obviously so will need ALOT of work.....!!

Stripped it out now so maybe that'll give it a bit more oomph!??!

Have taken ALOT more out since then and got myself some cobra buckets last week........what a job that was putting them on my old runners!! I literally cut the hell out of my old seats just so I could rob the runners off of it and that still wasn't enough so went hunting round the shed for some old metal and the only thing I could use were some pieces of Angle Iron off my car ramps so they've been cut now....needs must and all that!!
These are the seats.....

Am just off to cut a hole out of the sunroof runners so as I can slide the back in, will post some pics of the final product later!!

Finally managed to get it all in place! Just needs a bit more welding here and there to secure the baseplates!

Think I've gone through this disc a bit quick though! Just goes to show how much of the sun roof runner I've had to cut out of the way!

Its lowered 60mm running on spax coilovers and it handles really well but I do need to upgrade my brakes so will take that comment on board JOHNDQ

Roll Cage in and Decals on. All finished for today! Have bought some rally badges for the doors so hopefully they will come this week and a Retro 'Escort' sticker for the bonnet. Then that's it for appearance and I start making it perform better (hopefully as im no mechanic)! Eventually I'll be sticking a 2.0 silvertop in but in the meantime I just bought some bike carbs and a manifold so when they come I'll make a start on that!
