Default Compomotive Wheels to close....

Just been on Midlands Today - real shame, with 24 jobs being lost.

Hopefully someone will buy them out.

Really? Blimey, that's a shock. I love my Compo's!
What a shame.
I hope everyone manages to find something else to move on to; and also that Compomotive have paid their bills. My Brother's company was left with some huge unpaid bills when a well known motorsport company went under last year.

I hope another company buys them and keeps the brand going!

It may have happened for a reason but a big company could still make a decent earner from the brand.

It would be good to see the likes of Eibach branch out and cover more Motorsport items. They have a excellent reputation for quality so they would make excellent owners.

Not that this would ever happen mind

They only have 24 employees? I thought they were much bigger than that.

I didn't have the same experience but I did buy a lot more wheels than you.

Any thoughts on where the assets maybe tried to be sold? Only interested in any wheels that may have been left

i was joking, it was a bit more than a little bump, spinning around and around whilst bouncing of kerbs from a little more than 90 ......i guess theyre not really designed for high speed sideways impacts into high concrete kerbs

I keep hearing rumours to the contrary that Compomotive aren't shut down? Too late in the day to call them obviously, but does anyone have some info on whether they are trading or not?

I started this thread after it was on the local BBC news they were to close (I live in Brum so it was on Midlands Today as a local company). I'd assume the BBC would have investigated it before reporting, but I guess it wouldn't be the first time they've fucked up if it's not right.

i think the factory that mkes the wheels is closing (for reasons unclear)

components automotive (the company) is still trading, but they arent making any new wheels for the time being. they sold off alot of stock on ebay, and i was able to contact them direct and get some new wheels for a good price.

some speculate the manufacturing could move to china, others say its bcause the land the factory was on was sold off, others that they have closed for financial reasons......

Yup, I wanted a new set for my car but at least for the time being that's probably not an option! Bad thing is you'll get even more inflated daft prices for shite 2nd fucked wheels, it was bad enough already. I'm sick of buying 2nd hand 'good' wheels only to find out they're cracked or buckled etc etc.... It seems to be hard to find a nice and robust wheel for a saph or any cossie.

you'd be surprised, they got me a set of brand new mo 18's in ET35 ford pcd a couple of months back, from stock, ordered and they turned up next day

if they are NLA that's good news for me as i have 2 brand new sets still boxed

i agree with you though, second hand wheels are an unknown quantity
