My S1 *pics inside*
Having sold my MR2 GT Turbo for good money I decided the time was right to realise a 17 year dream my purchasing basically the best S1 I could find.
After quite a search I found the following. A 60K mile, genuine 1985 "B" reg S1, totally standard bar the stainless exhaust, mint interior, mint panels, a really clean and unmolested example.
It's been well taken care of through the years, doing minimal mileage. I have all the old MOT's from new, loads of service history, loads of booklets etc etc.
Any way, this was all a few weeks ago, I finally got around to taking the pictures of it today!
A real beauty. I'm really proud of it.

Took it out with the family today and turned so many heads it was unreal!

Thanks guys, was sorry to see my MR2 go, to be honest I was more sorry due to the great mates I made over at the IMOC (International Mr2 Owners Club) that I was a part of, but after coming here to Passionford I feel just as at home.
Lots of great people here, lots of advice - perfect.
Thanks again!

It's had 5 previous owners from new, and I think that each owner treat it correctly. Only one year did it do average mileage (12,000) all the other years it was minimal.
Luckily all the owners had kept everything to do with the car, even down to the original dealer booklet (that keeps the documentation, handbooks, accessory guides etc).....
I spoke with the previous owner, he's glad it's ended up at a good home. My MR2 did minimal mileage and was mint, but having a family now meant it was difficult to use it.
Today we loaded up our 8yr old, our 2yr old went in her car seat in the back, with my wife up front. Best drive of the last 20 years!

Have set myself a goal of getting one ready for Castle Combe this year! Was also speaking to my mate about this afternoon and he admitted that he's more excited about me getting one than I am!

Forgot to say mate, your old MR2 looks pretty smart too!
and don't worry about your mate from the IMOC, i'm sure you'll stay in touch, there's great people on this bb too and you and Davie have helped me enormously already!
Yeah, I liked the MR2, looked good from the side, but to be honest the MR2 was never "wide" enough to be a supercar. From the front and rear it looked a little "slim" for me.
I guess the MR2 never had the history with myself that the RS does, I seriously wanted one back in '88 when I was an 18 year old. A friend (at the time) bought one for 7995, I was gutted - watching him pose about in it whilst I had my 3i. I ended up doing a replica in '89 but it wasn't the same.
I remember him coming through my town centre in his RS - only a handfull of cars have made me "emotional" - Ferrari's do it, and when I saw his RS I just had to have it.
Took me bloody years to get it mind!!

Take good care of it, you'll be amazed how much interest there is the S1's
I get people coming to see the car at shows who seen it at previous shows.
There's loads of people I've spoken to who've owned one before and say that they wish they'd never sold it.
Enjoy it
Colin

Can clearly see how much it means to you mate, never has the phrase' Good things come to those who wait' been more fitting!
I used to go to alot of shows in my best friends brothers Series 1 when I was about 17 (I'm 21 now) and have always wanted an RS Turbo since then, Series 1 has stuck in my mind more than a Series 2 ever has tho!

Kieron, where are your rear bumper over-riders mate? If thats what there called, you the black bits!
On a true S1 are they placed wider at the rear than they are at the front? As i'm looking around they seem to be all over the bloody place on certain examples!
