transfering a private reg plate

Default transfering a private reg plate

quick question,
what to transfer my private reg to my new car(have log book and a mot log book not in my name though) do both cars have to be insured to do this?

no, not insured but I think you need to have it in your name, iv just tried to transfer after moving house and the wouldn't do it because the car was registered at the last address even with a covering letter

far easier to place your reg on retention and then transfer once the new car is in your name.

You can change a plate with the small green slip from teh log book I think, I did this with my plate although it was already on retention so maybe different.
