Default Looking at buying an ST.....

Hi everyone,

I'm looking into buying an ST.

I've got about £5k to spend.

What sort of condition/spec car should I be expecting for this kind of budget?

What about things to avoid? Common probs etc?

Any help would really be appreciated

Hi Billy, ive just bought one of these, awesome little cars nice and nice power, reminds me of my old XR2. £5k should get you a very nice 07/08 plate with very low mileage, Full heated leather is nice and also wears better than the half leather. Rust should be non existent on these, also check the gearbox especially 2nd gear as they can sometimes jump out when changing down from 3rd to 2nd and coasting.Mines an 07 plate with 68k on the clock, all original paint/panels, full heated leather, paid £3600

Oh wow

That looks and sounds a lot of car for the money

I've been looking on auto trader but prices are all over the place and I'm feeling like I could get my pants pulled down without even knowing.

Any suggestions where else to look? Piston heads? Etc

To be honest the car I got probably should be about a £4-4.5 but was covered in small scratches so knocked him down quite a bit but I spent a day machine polishing and came up like new so was well chuffed. As you said Autotrader,Pistonheads and Ebay are the places to search.Have you been on fiestastoc.com and had a look round, some great information on there thats where I spent a while reading.

Cheers Jason

I paid a little too much for my mrs car, its a 58 and had very little miles on and has the later radio and leather gear gater. Although I have retro fitted the Bluetooth with voice control from a focus into the fiesta

They don't seem to have a huge amount of issues, apart from noisy gearboxes.
Any car you look at make sure it's not got the duratec death rattle.
