Hi my friends escort keeps cutting out when slowing down to stop, I changed maf sensor on it as it wasn't as bad when unplugged but when we put new one on it was same as before.
The revs are always really low and hunting.
I thought it could of been the idle speed valve is knackered but do they have a maf AND iscv? As I never saw iscv on a quick look.
Any help would be appreciated thanks

Idle control valve almost 100%. Notorious on that engine, the good news is you probably can get away with just cleaning it with brake cleaner or petrol, rarely do you actually need a new part.
It's under the manifold below the throttle body. (ISCV) 2x8mm bolts hold it on.
Check for air leaks too, if disconnecting the MAF makes it run better.

Yeah, zetecs have both, I've never heard of a maf going on one though.
Some engines have them on the top of the manifold, on the left.
If you put up a pic of the engine, I'll show you where it is.

It'll be like this -

If you remove the throttle body (only 4 bolts), it's easier to see/undo the top bolt on the ISCV, as it's under the manifold directly under the throttle body, the other bolt needs to be done from underneath. Watch the seal, easy to get it on the piss if it's not sitting in the groove on the intake correctly. Get an 8mm ratchet spanner! Clean the throttle body where the throttle plate sits too.
If removing the maf plug makes it run better but a new maf doesn't fix it check for air leaks/vac pipes/servo pipe/servo itself/intake gaskets Also, on the intake hose there's an intake air sensor, with engine movement the wires can get snapped off. Check that too.
On some zetec they have a vac hose under the coil pack that splits too, worth a look.

I don't go by MK anything other than on old stuff.
But if I posted a 95 MY Escort, people would go "What?"
Ford call the models by their model year when introduced.
Not by MK anything!
End of rant

You might not be bothered but getting it right will make somebody being able to diagnose it for you more likely.
