Default HID Kit in a Projector headlamp?

Evening all

Just looking for a bit of info really for installing a HID kit into a projector lamp. A few years ago I fitted a kit into an old Focus with a normal headlamp and they were dazzling and had no beam pattern.

I have heard that a projector lamp will not cause any dazzle and will have a perfect beam pattern. Is this the case?

By the way, I am FULLY aware of the legalities of aftermarket HID kits so don't need any input on that, just looking for people's experiences!

Cheers

I fitted a set fitted to my st170 and I made the mistake of going for the brightest which threw light everywhere, so ordered a 6k set and the beam was spot on

This weekend I fitted 6k HIDs to my e36 m3.

They are projector lights.
Beam pattern is spot.

The 5000k, 6000k rating is the colour of the light. 5000k is yellower, 6000k is more purple. If the projectors are oem I doubt you'll have a problem.

as above projector headlights are fine.

you can get hid bulbs for non projector lights as well which dont dazzle, i was sceptical but after trying them the beam pattern was spot on.

Thanks for that, another question, are the more expensive kits better than cheaper ones? I will probably need something suitable for can bus and will go for 4300k as that is supposed to be the same as an oem system.

they all come from china

Ł30-40 will get you a good kit

i have 8000k's and they are really good, but are a little too blue and don't look legal
i have heard 4300k is also the closest to what you would get from manufacturer

anything over 6000k starts to look tacky, 4300k or 5000k is what i'd go for.

price wise i've had a few sets and they all seem to perform the same, the Ł30 set in my van gets the same use and has lasted just as long as the Ł60 set did in my passat.

the only issue i had was the colour rating, the cheaper set looks slightly higher than the 5000k they were rated to. but it'll be like all things cheap, you pay the money and take a chance, but i reckon 9/10 times they will be fine

I just fitted a set that cost Ł26 for h1 off eBay.

I can't fault them, they work perfectly. How long they last is a different matter but so far so good.
I got 6000k as I didn't like the yellow of 4300 and over 6000 they're too blue, I'd probably go for 5000k next time.
