Default Non Fords at Ford Fair

I've seen a few posts and comments about non-Fords at Ford Fair, so thought I'd comment...

1) Non Ford's on Track - There were a handful of other non-Fords (other than the Silverstone cars) and I can only assume they ignored the 'Ford Only' booking. It will be adressed for 2014 and cars will be turned away.
Rainbird was given a track session for his Escort, he decided to turn up in a BMW. If I'd have known I'd have politely told him to leave it parked up. The first I knew it was when it was out there. I would have thought that the 'Fastest Fords session' name would have been enough of a clue for him!

2) Non Fords on Stands - It never ceases to amaze me that people think that putting non-Fords on club stands is ok. It makes the stands look worse, and is against the spirit of a Ford show. We can't kick people out once they're in the show, but we may look at reducing the number for 2014 as it's not fair when there are Fords in less desirable positions - There are plenty of other generic events you can take your non-Ford to.

3) The idiot in the 'ICE' Golf. Leave it at home next year. You irritated way more people than you impressed.

While I'm here...

4) Queues - There's always queues at popular Silverstone events. You can't expect to turn up at 9am and drive straight in. Sorry, but it's the nature of the event, if you hate queuing, get there earlier, or later.

5) Food Prices - Set by Silverstone, nothing at all to do with us and we don't make a single penny from the food sales. It's always been this way, and always will be. The food will be extortionate next year too, so bring your own grub if you object to a £7 cardboard burger.

Dan as long as the rule is made 100% Clear on booking forms and websites that all entrants be it on stand or track MUST be ford and the rule will be enforced, then nobody will have issue with it thats if they have common sense of course

I've commented about the non ford issue. I believe that influential and active ford scene members such as Tony and Jay, don't pose any irritation bringing decent motors in, especially when they were mingled towards the back of the stand.

I do believe the non fords on track should be looked at in more depth next year though. This like you say can be overlooked when they turn up and are inside with non fords.

I'm not saying it should be one rule for one and another for everyone else! But respect for the people that are involved heavily with the ford scene, and don't drive a "Ford" wouldn't go amiss

Not going to be easy to enforce things like Rainbird though is it?

Well said! I arrived at around 5:45 and had a very pleasant drive :-D

I'm sure it shouldn't create too much of a rumpus to turn around non-fords at the gate, but it does beg the question of why somebody would have the audacity to bring a non-ford to Ford Fair anyway.

However, does, for example, the Cosworth Mini count as a ford - I do hope so

I'd say that Ford Fair is one of the better organised car shows and is a real credit to the organisers - well done.

I'm sure that ICE cars have their place at Trax, for example, (and this is one of the reasons I don't attend Trax), but what I like about Ford shows is that this scene is in a deep minority (Each to his own).

As for expensive food, somewhat of a sine qua non at these events but I think the quality has improved.

I wondered this too, as I love Fords, and Cosworths, but my current YB Cosworth engine/drivetrain vehicle isn't a Ford, but going on track at FF is something I deffo fancy. I'll add a Ford badge if it helps.

Can't believe Rainbum took a BMW on track in the 'Fastest Fords' session though, FFS...

If they were that heavily involved with the Ford scene then they'd have a Ford surely?

Dan,
I do have a Christian name....

And I didn't "decide" to turn up in the BMW, it was forced upon me by the release bearing on the Escort collapsing and jamming the clutch. In hindsight, I shouldn't have taken the CSL on track, but at the time I just didn't think and have apologised to Jamie for any embarrassment I may have caused. On a personal level, I will obviously ensure that a similar situation never arises.

True, but more and more people for example still have a lot to do with passionford but still own other cars. Don't get me wrong it's called Ford Fair and should be just that! But it didn't hurt to have a cossie mini and a Bentley on our stand. Especially when they're mods on here, and there's a VW van racing round on track!

If it is ford only then the rules apply to everyone. No exceptions. That's fair enough to say

I.e. Mike Rainbird. His motor had an unfortunate event. Maybe he shouldn't have been on track but parking it up inside the venue?? Can't hurt can it?? Ford fair or not sometimes it comes down to common sense.

I'm happy to support Dan totally on the Ford stance if it will be enforced, more pre warning on booking forms and on the FF website is needed and I saw more than mikes bmw on track and most club stands hosted non fords too, any non ford should be turned away from track and club entry by stewards and showed public carpark as their only option.

Ford Fair was very good this year all the same so good work by all involved at future publishing

Good to see how our shonkey fords compare to what zee germans produce, and especially as it was driven by a dedicated Ford lover (loves cock as well )

And im sure his Escort would of been there if Harvey had fixed it

its so simple..... if you are booking track time or going on a stand it MUST be ford!

a problem with your stand/track car then sell/swap/give away your ticket or if your lucky enough you might be able to borrow someone elses track car for the session.

i hate seeing the likes of bentlys etc on ford stands, whats the point!!! as said before you have trax or bently shows or mini shows or vw shows to show off your chrome wheels or loud music... where i might add it will obviously be appreciated ten fold!!!

iv been on stands at ford fair and been tucked in rubbish locations which is dis-heartning when you have put time n money into your car and most of us actually aim our deadlines at ford fair.

i appreciate its going to be hard to uphold "no fords - full stop!" but i reckon by starting with marshalls at the gates refusing non fords with stand passes in their window and in the pit line up non fords being turnt away.... surely it will open a few peoples eyes?!

not trying to offend anyone here at all but it is a ford show....
you wouldnt go to a hip hop show and accept listening to britney spears between tracks would you???????

If rules are being addressed, can all ford shitters with stick on half it'd parts and silly ice systems parked by concourse, not be allowed and stupid rat look cars.

Also a rule for idiots with popper kits revving the car to the limiters.

Make it clear its Ford Fair not Max Power.

Why is he a God and is able to make his own rules up ?

He should of had more respect imo as its been quite clear for a couple of years now that only ford were allowed on track

i could have took a much more enjoyable, faster, comfortable trip in my Bentley to FF, But why would you i dont get it.

I took the escos because its a FORD fair. lol

even though i wasn't happy with the car and needs bits addressing i still took it. I too was surprised by the standards of some cars on stands though and really do think there should be a bit of QC going on.

As you can see from my posts, I fully support what Dan is trying to do and appreciate that it was a mistake to have put the CSL on track and one that I won't allow to happen again from my point of view.

Rob the only issue I have with QC is the snobbery factor and cliques as thats why most have left other clubs, as we could have a totally devoted owner/kid new to the ford scene who lives and breathes blue ovals, but his budget may be pennys and to force someone like this to the public car park is a huge own goal in the social scene and a loss as they are the future, totally respect everyones opinion on non fords and at Classic Ford/Ford Fair 2014 we will be Ford only, lets just hope everyone else attending does the same and btw the escos you came in looked bloody good so keep up the good work

Keep it simple, fords only on stands, fords only on track (and whatever the Silverstone cars are, its their venue you can hardly stop them). Simples

This is it in a nut shell people have different taste and budgets

I don't mind personally, it's nice to have a bit of variation, within reason!

Nice to see the M3 on track as well.

To be fair, irrespective of opinions and Views, it is "Ford Fair" so on that alone it should end there. Good job Dan btw! Excellent show never the less. Hope it will be bigger and better in the years to come!

Dan and all the team well done, great show.

I'd be more concerned about banning the OKC Escort for nearly wiping out others (several times) on track in the last session.
