Just picked up a 1986 MK4 Escort XR3i with 60000 miles for £200. Drives great but got the normal MK4 rust problems but the sunroof cassette is quite bad. Thinking of getting rid of the sunroof totally and welding a plate in. What do you guys think?

 

Probably easier to get a a new roof put on

Alot of work to plate it up

 

just chop it out and fit a carbon roof skin on it seen a few and they look well smart
