I think someone told me that the p8 board was put in the l8 to allow live mapping but I could be talking a load of rot. I know the l8 can do launch and anti lag

Cosworth Weber ECU's

L1 = they do the job but are the worst by far. We don't support this ECU after 55lb Siemens but prefer to stay at 803s or below.

L6 - Same firmware capabilities as L1 but slightly better hardware. Same limitation apply as above for our maps.

L8 - Better all round with extra memory on board so far better firmware and injector control. Happy to map these to 600bhp and beyond.

The L8 can cope with pretty much any Cosworth YB Calibration but is starting to run thin on load & speed sites at over 2bar of boost and 8200rpm, but it is capable of Closed Loop, ALS, Launch Control and Flat Shift and can be calibrated to work with all these features up to around 1000cc injectors just fine. Diagnostic datastream and air Injectors are also supported.

P8 - As above but faster processor and a few more load sites.
The P8 however also has twice as much ram and the firmware is far more advanced and incorporates such things as adaptivity, closed loop boost control and advanced diagnostics capability as well as the ability to run wasted spark natively with just a chip data change. The serial output is crippled on these and requires a small hardware modification to enable data streaming.

However - The P8 has a higher failure rate which seems to specifically affect those that have previously had a Pectel board fitted.
It is also very particular about its signals and can tell the difference between a perfect signal and an "almost" perfect signal and will not tolerate the later and will put a 4000rpm rev limiter in place if it sense any signal anomalies. this is not an ECU to use with an old wiring loom.
