Hi my electric door mirrors dont work i have changed the fuse and switch and still nothing,

Im from north shields and i will buy a few cans of beer and of your choice to come and get them working.

it could just be the controler switch

make sure you have power to it as it's always live

pop the cover off as the switch is a bastard to get out

the good news is that ALL door mirros switches appear to have been the same across all the ford range until baout 2007 so getting another one is easy

can't remember exactly, but there is a little cap and a screw underneath that holds the mirror inside cover in place, it's clipped in

remove this and get the plug off the back and see if there is power there

if there isn't then look to the wiring loom coming into the drivers door to see if there is a break in the wires there somewhere

 

ok im stuck the offer still stands i cant seem to get them to work i know the bullet connector is providing a live and there is a earth on the brown wire yet nothing happens when switch is used

please help if you are local near north shields

please i beg you whoever can get them to work

have you followed the loom around the piller and though the door all the way to the switch?

if there is power at the main input you will have power everywhere in the system

so it's very very easy to sort

ive followed the wires like you said and there isnt any breaks in the wire confirmed with multimeter ive tried quite a few switches and still nothing.

 

So you have power in the main loom?
And you have power in the door look?
And you have power in the door loom to the switch yes?
But nothing from the switch onwards?
Correct so far?
If you have tried several other confirmed working in another car switches I would then have that second car there as well to check where the power goes from the switch back into the door loom back down through the car again

It should just be a break in the main wiring which you should be able to rectify fairly easily as its all contained in the door itself

If its the main loom you can just replace individual wires but my first port of call would be to strip all the door loom out and then connect it outside the door to make checking the wires and plugs easier

You should also do a continuity check on the wires from end to end as it could be just a dry joint in the door loom

It's easy working in sierras

There should only be 5 wires in the main power loom so check that first

 

ok took all the door mirror wires and switch wires out the drivers door place it on the ground, checked wires with multimeter, then i provided a earth and power to the switch and nothing no click or anything, there must be something stupid stopping them working but cant suss it out

 

oh yeah i checked the fuse and according to the manual it controls other stuff and all the othe things work but not the mirrors
