Default 87 3 door in the salvage, whats it worth?

on a salvage site i use, they have a white 3door d reg 1987. it looks clean enough around it, as does the interior, but its had a heavy front end, looks like its gona need all front end including wings.

realsticly what is it worth? only thinking of buying it for myself. as the cat d wouldnt bother me on my own car if it was cheap enough.

it seems to be going up quick, only been on a few hours and at 2k already

Reshell time, still on a T3 so can't see there being that many go faster bits on it, 4k max IMHO at a push for it to be even remotely worthwhile.

The gear stick position sort of gave that away

And if they've run it up with a fucked engine to take the picture what else could be wrong with it now?

It says cat d, I thought that was for cars with a 'slight knock', the whole front end looks fucked.

to be cat C the value of repairs need to exceed the value, if a shell was available i doubt a reshell would be 11.5k repair.

cat D is because they can't / don't want to repair it (i'e because a shell isn't available)

Shell is toast unless you want an uneconomical and time consuming repair to what will now be a recorded car.

The struts are squint, not much wonder it ended up there I wouldn't want that fixed if it was my own car.

The engine has been pushed back because the weak crossmember has bent, They are the first thing to fold up, hence you go up a kerb hard in a sierra the tca and the wheels fold up and go under the car,
It would need a proper strip down to see if the bulkhead, front chassis legs and A posts and floorpan haven't folded/Bent.
It does look like the inner wings and struttops are out off align though

Would it be economical to repair no not at all, but the pictures could look worse than what it actually is.

Jesus, someone must be in the trade to repair it as it's really an uneconomical repair for average joe. The front look like the whole thing needs replacing and to do right needs genuine panels so £200 for the two outer wings, what ever for the inners, the cross member can't be founds so copy has to be used so would have to have the original toe eye welded on so it didn't look odd. all that and it still looks like it need a lower crossmember and other parts.

yep sod that.. if I was in that position id re-shell it but that will still need a lot of bits to put it right and paint and at the end of it if its kept on its 'cat d' id it will worth much less than a hpi clean one which would make it financially pointless

Lots of the cars on copart are put through by third party owners not the ins co, I bet that was bid up and gets relisted.

why else would you pay double the value of something if you knew that the originals was double that again?

change of numbers and an instant £6k in your pocket

so maybe anyone who has had a 3door stolen in the past might want to check out whatever car this reg/id ends up on in the future?
