hi i have made a thread a few weeks ago about changing the engine in my escort

but ive made this new thread to see wot people think about just tuning the 1.3ltr engine thats already in.
wud it be worth it n can u get some real power out of it

im only thinking of keeping the 1.3 engine in because of lightness n keeping it nippy

 

Is it a 1300 cvh or a 1300 Valencia/Kent family OHV

 

i am pretty sure that its the second 1 as its a mk6 1997

 

The effort/cost wouldn't justify the results, it'd far more cost effective to put a Zetec in it.

 

ino putting a bigger engine in will be better but ive got 12 points n my insurance is high enough so i wana stick to the 1.3 but make it abit quicker i really like escorts so wanna stick with it till im 25 (as im only 21 now) but i dont wana spend 4 years driving a slow 1.3 hence y im trying to boost the performance and make the body n interia look good

 

If I had 12 points the last thing I would be concerned with is performance.

I am bothered about the law but my insurance is cheap so guna keep it a 1.3 n wotever happened 2 cuming on sites like this n askin for advice without getting a ball ache of people im just trying to get my car nice with abit of power so from now on no1 post on this thread unless its helpful advice

 

Surely having loads of modifications on your insurance policy will cost more than having a standard 2.0 zetec.

I'd be looking at buying push bike. Sell the car and wait until you are mature enough to drive a car without clocking up so many points at such a young age.

On a lighter note, personally i think a 1.3 litre engine is over powered for you. Have you considered buying a car with an engine that is less than 1.0L?

 

Cheaper to buy a 1.8 escort

 

You might find that cost of a modified 1.3 would be dearer than a standard 1.8/1.6 zetec

that's assuming you declare the mods

I know where your coming from I've got 4 point and bin banned for 2 yrs, don't make me a hard man or clever, if your asking for advice then accept the answers as they are, I've learnt the hard way as everyone but I still drive like a cunt I just know when to do it now, I would say keep the 1.3 and poss fit a diesel box, a set of carbs, and do a bit of head work, just remember as you have points already the plod will hit harder on you for the slightest things
