Default how much is a saph cossie worth in bits...........

not sure if i should just sell it in bits now its apart.

getting abit disheartened with it.

this is not a for sale thread just want to know if its worth stripping

whats a 200 bottom end go for complete, got valve cut outs, and run sweet no smoke.

the head is std and has 138.84.

got good leather and very clean carpet.

It totally depends on what parts you have, and what condition they are in. If you've a top spec car, you'll see £20k+, if you have a fairly standard car, in good condition, I'd guess £5k maybe ?

It can be a pain though, as you may find yourself left with lots of bits

as Jay says; if you've got the room and can afford to wait you'll get good money, but you might be sitting on the parts that dont sell quickly for months & months

Thought the same myself as said all depends what bits you have and if you can store them.

Worked out mines worth about 6-6500k if I got the prices I wanted!!

depends on the spec i guess, good bits fly and sell well when priced keenly, you'll sell some random bits too like switch blanks etc then you'll still be left with bit hanging around and the money comes in drips and drabs, you need to have the room and the patience. best way will be sell complete rolling shell for around 1500-2000 then engine for 1500 box 500 if 2wd and turbo loom ecu etc but still a pain

Worth bearing in mind, that not many decent engines have been selling well lately too

£1500 / £2000 for a rolling shell It will have to be a pretty mint shell for that and have every nut and bolt other than engine and box for that

The last one i had for sale i couldnt get that and the shell was stunning and inc nice leather and a coss private plate

I ended up breaking it right down as i couldnt get £1700 for it

i thought they were making more than that but then i stopped looking recently as anything with rs on it just lately is over priced, but knowing that im tempted to buy a shell to build up, be cheaper than buy a complete one

You will be shocked how many cossies i get offered that the owner started to break and got sick of messers and being offered buttons for the parts

Sad thing is they have always sold the engine box / loom ecu etc and sod all else , and i wont but them as thats all i can sell these days

The days of breaking cossies for good money are long gone , unless its a megga spec car

Do you think we are finally in a position where saffs are worth more as a working car again? Or at least not worth the hassle of breaking?

Bang on.

Bought my mint white shell,still mot'ed,two blobs of rust,solid everywhere,every panel,full trim,all the 2wd running bits etc for £1600.
The interior is like new, pretty sure I could get £4/500 for it broken down into door cards etc so in theory it's £1100.
Also had brand new 2wd brakes which sold for £150,pretty sure there's £150's worth of 2wd conversion parts so I'd agree that it must be a special shell to get £2000.

Also spot on.
When I had the ebony one I toyed with the idea of breaking it many times only to sit down and realise after I'd got say £2/2500 for the running gear I'd struggle to see another grand for everything else which would come in dribs&drabs.

Probably better selling a rough one for £3/3500 grand as a complete motor and let someone else decide what to do.

It's surprising what people take on,my ebony shell IMO was no better than scrap but I've just sold it to a lad I know who wants to rebuild it claiming the weldings nothing to worry about.

Be nice to see it about done properly,I think he's had a stripped down cossie since the 90's and was just waiting for the right time to do a project.

100% correct Wil

shitbox old saffs are worth nothing anymore as everything on them is scrap and there parts are worth buttons

the flip side is that tidy saffs are now worth more complete again ,

The last 2 saffs i bought to break i sold complete as they were tidy cars with good engines etc so worth much more complete than in bits

Good news really, as for a few years nice saffs have been hard to come by.
