thats just not true though as a company they have accounts with couriers and get massive reductions when useing them alot
we as the average punter can go on interparcel or parcel2go and book couriers.all the big names to collect and deliver.
i do it all the time and ive sent bumpers.doors.cylinderheads.engine blocks.gearboxes etc
christ you can have 4x 18in rims and tyres on 24h service for £26!!!!
so a box the size of a shoebox weighing probably less than 1kg at £20 is taking the piss
and my postcode is covered in normal mainland delivery

dean i just posted your chrome bits in the only box i could find and its alot bigger than it needed to be and it was £3.99 collected weighing just over 1kg mate
There are other costs involved though to consider.
Larger companies will not use old boxes they have lying around, they will buy shipping items like boxes, shipping bags, Jiffy bags, parcel tape, bubble wrap, box stuffing, shipping labels, postage tags,
then they have to pay someone's wages to find the goods, pack the goods, organise the shipping.
They will also choose to use a postage service that they know they can rely on, as the company name is on the line, even if it is more costly, and also insure the goods in case they are lost.
I'm sure they would be happy for you to pop in and pick it up which would prevent any of these costings lol.

just pop in? what if you live 300 miles away?
james all dealings ive had with msd over the years have been super quick turnaround but you always use special delivery by rm which makes sense on the likes of ecus chips etc,
and im not buying this...someones wages to find and pack items thats there job,so what, they dont get paid when theres no orders?
sorry but £16.01 for a split new cardboard box doesnt appeal to me as it will simply be going in the bin
i know rm has in recent years become and absolute con but independent couriers are good value and do inc decent insurance at a fraction of rm prices.and the majority of merchants have courier accounts
yourselfs and ggr are the only ones i can think of that use rm

Any company who ships goods like us have to have staff to pack goods and prepare them for shipping, yes it is their job that's what they are employed to do, but they also get paid for this work its not free.
Everything in business has to be paid for or the company will make a loss.
If your 300 miles away it would cost you a fair amount to collect them, so £20 is a bargain

I can order 5kg bags of protein from companies online.spend over £50 an get free shipping.all brand new boxes etc.huge boxes at that.surely a.s could offer something like this.spend over £100 get free shipping.
it depends on profit margins tbh ! if there paying £4 a kg for example then £15 p&p then theres £15 net and if there moving enough of it then there doing all right .When it says free p&p its normally factored into the price to maximise sales

Probably be ringing your broadband company next asking for a discount because you had to complain.....

I cant fault Alan as i ordered a hose set (BT ESCOS) and he got me a cheaper quote on shipping costs, when the hoses arrived i got the wrong ones (MY FAULT AS I NEEDED SAFF ONES
) so contacted Alan again and he did send me 1 new hose (rest did fit) for free and no charge for shipping

So give the man a call instead of moaning here and he'll sort you out for sure

did you actually read the thread?
how the fuck is £20 fair?
im far from skint or tight.
the reason for me asking on here in the first place was to see if its maybe a computer generated price for ordering online etc or if thats what it actually costs
ive broke 2x sapphire cosworths in last 12 months and sent parts all over the world hence i know when postage is FAIR as you put it
and no ronnie sorry i havent phoned

Have to agree with tomoyb. £20 p+p is steep.
Surely AS are making enough profit from SS bits not to rip on postage like this.
On the flip side it's a business, supply and demand - if you want something badly enough you pay the price and the company makes their profit.

They've told him to call them and yet he has'nt done. I'm pretty certain they will sort it out. I have ordered from them a few times and really cant fault them. The items are well packaged. It took me longer to unwrap my intercooler then it did to fit lol
