Default Silvertop head with blacktop cams?

Hi guys, been speaking to my local part supplier and he can get me some comp cams camshafts but they had 95-97, 00-02 written on the description, would they be a straight swap into my head on my 1800(130) silvertop?

I wouldn't of thought so, black top cam profile is for solid lifters and silver top is for hydraulic.... I don't actually know though.

Karlos is correct, profiles are different for solid lifter cams. they will physically fit and work, just not how they're supposed to.

Oh ok makes sense, might be worth swapping to a blacktop head then?

Is it a straight swap to put a blacktop head on a silvertop?

Not really no, they fit but the timing belt set up is a bit tricky to sort out.

An ST170 head is the same as Black Top head in terms of fitting, yes.

And then I guess you need a different ecu to do the variable timing?

The ST170 cams are different to the Black Top as well if you're thinking of fitting an ST170 head.

Well for now I'm just weighing up my options as mine at the weekend was gutless, I ran 3 seconds slower than my personal best down the strip haha, just doesn't sound crisp like it did before winter for some reason, all I have done is changed the front pulleys to verniers ( locked off the cams when done) changed oil and filter and put exhaust wrap on...
