Default Mayonnaise

How would you store it once its open?

I always thought as it was soo full of crap, it dont go off, so dont have to refrigerate it, or eat it that quick

Well just AFTER using some that was opened a few months ago and kept in a cupboard i read on the side, keep refrigerated at all times and use within 4weeks of opening

So is that just a precaution or am i lucky not to have poisoned myself by now from eating tainted Mayo

The shits only last a day or so, hardly worth worrying about

Anyway it's got more flavour after a couple of days at room temperature

Well, if it was freshly made mayo, I'd be worried .... but as it is made of all good artificial stuff and full of preservatives, you'll be fine... Keep it in the fridge tho...

And yes they say it has eggs in it, but you will have to get up really really early to actually find traces of egg.... Its all dehydrated and reconstitued (sp?) bits....

Mayo is made from raw eggs so iis a high risk food item

However as pointed out "most" branded mayo as egg powder so much lower risk as the protein content is lower which is what bacteria grow wioth

SO to be safe store in the fridge

Pickles and Jams you can keep in your cupboard once opened as the protein is VERY low and the sugar /Vinegar content means less water moisture therefore low bacterial growth rate

Hope this helps

Good Lord! Cant believe you left it out of the fridge let alone eat it afterwards

Eggs and Chicken are some of the worst foods to mess around with. Salmonella and all other types of wonderful bugs to mess with your stomach

The Mayo will last quite well in the fridge, preservatives and the like will mean it will last awhile. I personally wouldnt keep it opened (and in the fridge) for more than a month.

Not sure about mustards, but I keep mine on the fridge for quite awhile - as I dont use much at a time.

When it comes time for you to experiment with Shell foods (muscles, etc) - make sure you come back on here for some advice - as seafood poisoning is not nice

Or maybe the dirty stinkin mayo you've been eating has been neutralised by the gallons of "tramp killer" cider that you seem to like drinking
