Default St225...steering 'sticks' at centre

Hey guys. My st has an odd one....the steering kinda sticks in the centre, it's like a split second delay when you turn the steering for the assistance to kick in. It's odd !! Any ideas ??

Yeah, and it hasn't gone all shitty & brown either. It's like there's resistance to turn it, it 'thuds' and then is normal. An Internet search has pulled a couple of same problems up, but no joy

i have heard of this before and i know there is a fix, but i can't remember where i read it or what the fix was

i "think" it was the rack itself that needed changing or there was a recall on a bolt on the column but can't be sure

Check the bolts that bolt the rack down are tight. A loose rack will give exactly these symptoms, along with general vagueness. Not that uncommon either!
