hi all. I have a 2000 model 1.25 zetec mk5 with 82k miles. the clutch needs changing and I can pick a kit up relatively cheaply but haven't done a ford clutch before.

how hard is it to do? I have 3 jacks, axel stands and plenty of tools, plenty of space, but no one to help out so need to tackle the job on my own.

can anyone run through the basic process of changing the clutch so I know what to expect

 

Its not too bad, but involves a lot of dismantling. I think you need to take off one of the struts, so you can get access to be able to pull the shaft/box out when splitting the engine from the box to drop the clutch. I'd deffo get a Haynes manual to help out. I'll have a look through mine if you want? Its been a while since I did this sort of work.

thanks for the reply but this job was done weeks ago. since posting this question I have had the engine out, fixed the clutch issue, sold the engine, bought an xr3i engine, dropped that in, realised the bosch fuel injection system is shite, ripped it all out, fitted carbs of a gsxf1200, fitted a turbo, stripped the interior out and fitted with leather and put it on coilovers, bdsm wheels, machined my own steering wheel and sold it!

now have a Renault megane 225 so I doubt I will need this forum again...
