Default Rear Anti-Roll Bar on a Series One RS Turbo Question

Firstly did the Series One originally come with a rear anti-roll bar?

According to last months Fast Ford the Series One has a 16 mm front anti-roll bar and a 12 mm rear anti-roll bar. It also said "No other MK 3 Escort had this rear, not even the RS1600i."

Well I can't seem to see a rear anti-roll bar on mine, it's quite possible I'm being a total idiot and not seeing what is blatantly in front of me, but some clarification would be nice!

Would there be any reason for removing the rear anti-roll bar? If you changed the suspension for instance. The front one is definitely there (I think!).

Any help or advice appreciated.

Thanks

RS1600i has one on the parts list for the first production run before they went to the bigger 55l fuel tank but it was never fitted.....lol.

I know they can be had if you can find an Orion of the correct age tho

Suspension changes have no bearing on removing the rear ARB as it mounts off the pressed steel arms. Some have them and some dont. A 12mm vertically mounted bar aint gonna do much anyway. They actually drive better without it imho

Thanks for the replies guys.

So it's quite possible someone's removed mine in the past or that it never had one in the first place?

i think i have one of these, took it off a turbo technic converted mk3.i think the rollbar fits into link bushes that are bolted to the rear trailing arms.so if yours has holes drilled in them ,its been removed.

Check out the rear arms, if they have a bracket for one to be fitted then it would have left the factory with one fitted. If replacement arms have been sourced without the bracket then it will have been removed.
