The bottom ends are known to fail, I'd be checking for any unusual noises, good service history etc. Clutch is a big expense so good that it has been done. Wheels corrode like nobodys business, a big heavy nosed car needs good tyres so make sure they aren't nankangs!! Brakes are shite, they are exactly the same as what is fitted to the 1.8 so don't be surprised if they are a bit unresponsive.

Only bad things about theses cars are the brakes and the fuel they drink i had a 2004 one from a few months old till it was three years old never missed a beat and they fly along. Wheels can be a pain and mine seemed quite heavy on tyres but its a heavy car and i put the sport contacts on that Ford fit from new so there quite soft anyway! Check bottoms of doors for rust water sits in the seals there and listen for any wind noise seem to suffer with that to

Little update, went with him to look the car over and it looked a little uncared for tbh, But the history was awesome its only done 15K (showing only 65k now) in the last 4 years, and got full ford dealer history and loads of invoices for all the work done, so a deal was done @Ł2750 outside of ebay it wants a little bit of a tidy up but we've already given it a good polish and looks 100%better

so far so good other than less than 24 hours from getting it the engine management light came on for a misfire on cylinder 3 but its all fine now hes going to replace the plugs and give it a good going over just to be sure its all good

I followed him back in me focus rs and was a bit surprised how well it went

tbh if the car looked as good as it does now then i reckon it would have been closer to a 4k car with the low miles
