Hi all,
I'm a forum newbie and I'm after some assistance;

A friend of mine usually services my car and I've never had a problem, until now!

He has changed the plugs, oil and filters as normal, however on this occasion, when he had finished, the car sounded like a cross between an engine on 3 cylinders and flat 4 boxer.

On further investigation, it will not go above 2500 revs and the catalytic converter was glowing bright red.

The EML came on and the scanner showed code P1518.

I've seen on the forum that this normally means a problem with the IMRC, but would that also cause the misfire. Its so bad the car is undriveable?

Or am I looking at multiple problems?

The mis-fire is most likely the coil pack, the unburnt fuel entering the cat will cause it to over heat

Problem solved. Two of the new spark plugs were cracked, so have replaced with new UNDAMAGED plugs and all is good in the world............for now!

So much for quality control. Serves me right I suppose for not checking them first. Oh well....
