I am thinking about the upgrade. In Winter I fit 15" steel wheels and seem to remember the trouble with this upgrade is that the calipers from the MK3 (I think) are bigger than the original?
yeah,leave it alone. Unless you're belting about at 80mph everywhere,why would you wanna upgrade? Brakes are ok on them.
The brakes are shocking on the 200. They're the same (on some models) as the
base spec 1.8. But have a lot more weight and much more power to reign in - they definitely benefit from upgrading.
You won't get 15s over ST170s though, you'll need at least 16s.
You can get the 170 brakes under the standard st24 rims, you just have to carefully remove a little bit off the corner of the caliper. Trust me I have done it and seen it done lots of times.
