2.0 Tdci Focus Problem
Hi had service in October 2012 engine malfunction flashed on day after... Took back to garage... Came up fuel pressure regulator issue, they cleared this problem persisted with eventually the car not starting RAC returned the car to garage. They got it up and running and could not find any problem. Had same problems again and bit the bullet and took to Ford, they replaced a speed sensor and car was fine for 600 miles with only engine malfunction came on and the power dropping out, although dropping it down to 2 gear brought revs up and was fine again.
Then couple of weeks ago, the car totally lost power and would not start, RAC towed me to Ford garage. They replaced injector 4, the battery and informed there may be an issue with injector 3, but after doing the program update it cleared. After a 650 pound bill, u could imagine my annoyance when 36 hours later the engine malfunction comes on again. The light comes on but engine starts, switch off and light goes off. Today drove from Dover to Canterbury and was fine, on way home, light came on, the power dropped out and then immediately comes back, it seems like some kind of fuel issue... As a car biff I really don't know what to do or who can help me. I get the impression from Ford that they stick it on the computer find the fault and replace the part, they are simply bleeding me dry.
My car is ford focus 2.0 tdci that has only done 43800 miles and is 58 plate
Please please any suggestions...

Does it still start on the key and idle, or do you have to give it a rev, as cars get newer and newer the more components have sell-by-dates and the fact that your cars done 40k ish I presume you've just had a major service, I would check the fuel filter as it could be a duff component
Hi, I hope this post will serve as a helpful deterrent to people thinking of making the same mistake so many people have.
So I read some post on how easy it is to change the fuel filter on my 55 plate 2.0 TDCI so I followed the steps and caused more damage then I already had.
Do not attempt to change the fuel filter this model need Ford to do it as they have a special tool for it.
My car now has a fuel leak because I damaged the seals and I will have bills from two different garages.
Thanks
Oz
