mk4 escort zetec altenator ???
hi guy hope someone can help me fitting a rs1800i lump my mk4 escort swapped the pull from the zetec one to the cvh one but cant work out the mounting.. everyones doing different !!!!

Why would you use the cvh alternator if you already had the zetec one which came off the engine originally ? I'd of thought you'd need the zetec pulley on the alternator to drive your water pump ?
When ever I've put a zetec in a mk4 escort I've used the cvh over slung bracket & adjuster off the original engine & mounted the zetec alternator to that bracket

i swapped it to end to the v pully.. if i use the full zetec bracket people say it wont fit and i need too use the cvh one.. but doesnt tighten then belt at all needs spacing like and inch i would say :S ??

If you have a look at this thread roughly a third of the way down the page although he's used his standard fiesta cvh mounting bracket which under slings the alternator.

You want the over slung version off of an escort as the under slung version catches on the anti-roll bar mount

go to parts place get a shorter belt sure itll be 4 ribbed which is fine just trial and error but defo work do what i do put alternater on get a piece of wire wrap it tight round leave adjustment though and take that meassurement to car shop theyll sort one no probs
no probs had all these probs over the years doing zetec conversions get 1 bigger and 1 smaller and 1 right size see what fits best and get your money back on what 2 you dont use also the belts meassured in mm mind
