Default Sapphire steering bush.

I have found the bush in the steering column under the exhaust manifold has play in it. Has anyone ever made a solid mount for this? If I did this will there be too much vibration through the steering wheel?

Cheers. I hope Ford down here in New Zealand can help. Otherwise it will be easy enough to knock something up at work. I just wondered if a solid one would be better with all that heat around it.

If its the rubber disc on the coupling a land rover discovery one is the same, I used one on mine, just grind off rivets and use bolts when putting back together

So the local landrover specialist wants $280 NZD for a used steering column. That's as close as I get. Another guy will do an exchange cosworth column for $180. I suspect it will have a ploy bush fabricated locally. It looks like the best option is to get the landrover one shipped from the UK but I bet the shipping for a whole column turns out to be expensive too.

The link above for island 4x4 offers worldwide shipping and part is only Ł25 I presume you don't have to pay the vat. Can't cost anywhere near what you have been quoted to get one over there.

I don't think the act of shipping it will be an issue rather the cost. I expect a steel steering shaft is reasonably heavy and will really bump the cost up.
