Hi all, so after owning various xr fords years ago im looking to get the bug again so any help from on this would be great, me and a mate have got are hands on a tidy zetec s with the bottom end knocking and instead of the puma route we agreed that the 2.0l engine would be a better platform for future tuning plans, turbo etc.

Anyway has anyone on here done this conversion or know of it being done?, we have a 98 2.0 silver top mondy thats got a good engine.

We are both mechanics and we are lucky enough to have a workshop so graft not a problem, am i right to think a 2i zetec would help us? as a donor, we hope to use it as a track car thats its function really as mallory park is only up the road from us, any info on this would be really helpfull cheers....

 

If it where me id be getting a doner zetec xr2i fiesta.. you will need to make up engine mounts and probs a box mount.. the zs uses a hydraulic clutch so you will need to sort that out. Id use the zetec fiesta loom in place of the zs one... I have seen a focus rs powered mk5 so maybe try and find the thread on here the guy could help. P.s ive not done this before but thats what id do

I'm using the a 2000 reg mk4 gearbox and an escort 1.8 flywheel and clutch.

maintaining the cars hydraulic clutch system, upgrading the servo to Mondeo MK2 version...

using an xr2i rear engine mount along side the two original ones on the gear box.

Just waiting to get it welded... Its been modified slightly to fit...
