Default mk1 escort project, potential conversions?

Hi all been a while since ive been on here but ive managed to pick this little gem up at a bargain price ! few body issues need taking care of but only cosmetics, the shell is unbelievably clean !no rust anywere and all seems to be original, no patching etc, originally a 4 door converted to 2 but has been done well couldnt tell and with what ive paid cant really complain. any who firstkyy think im gonna do her in the focus rs,escos imperial blue as ive never seen one before. Now to all you mk1 genies is there an easy way to extend the axels to give her a wide stance and bring the wheels more outwards of the arches ? and wanting to put something turbocharged in her but have limited funds, she currently is running a bored 1660 crossflow with twin 40s but am thinking 1.8rst or the 2.1 rst as i cant really fork out for a cossie lump have these conversions been done before and whats involved ? cheers guys all input comments helpful

cheersbud well ive found ot the lump she currently has is the 1700 x flow running on twin 40's, its been stripped and put back together only covered around 2k since rebuild may keep the engine in, carbs need adjusting however to keep ticking over rather than cutting out at lights... i shall post pics up when i get started with her

The exterior paint work is good there is just a few chips aorund the wing and a bit of work needs carrying out on the rear doors as they were done around 10 years ago, looking at the history it used to be a show winner however it looks like some newb has bought it and used matt black brush paint on the interior over the pillars in the engine bay and over the wood effect... but stripping her back to bare and spraying her and see if i can see any rust but up to now there isnt any! well theres a tiny tiny bit on one of the wings under the arch (arches are fiber glass) and theres a patch on the floor 3 inch by 3 inch but as for the rest shes solid

engine bay is solid, dirty, in need of attention cosmetic wise. webbers are in service so stuck on temp carb (still useable) untill i get them back then she will be off the get finely tuned to run as sweet as she can. intentions for now im gunna take out the engine, spray up the engine bay and get rid of the awful matt black and spray the head block etc to make it look a bit purdy-er going to stick with this engine for now as ive heard good things however eventualy she will be powered by something a bit more ermm turbocharged...
