One of my mates got a grey one his has about 137k on the clock and runs sound enough, sounds genuine enough though. My dad will have it all checked before I decide or not, and hes been a car dealer for 27 years so its all good !

All depends on how keen you are on it!
Sounds like a good car, you say you have always liked S2's finding a decent 1 in Scotland is getting harder, assuming everything is good engine wise and the seller aint to OTT on the asking price id go for it!
Best of luck

Thing is it would be a waste for me to have like a 4k minter because it will be my everyday car, i'll look after it and cherish it but everyday use will take its toll im sure. This one is actually £2500 which is reasonable I think!
Have you asked any of the local RS guys about the car, I know they all tend to know the cars historys by the last 3 digits on the REG. Maybee 1 of them will go have a look at it with ya if your needing an independant view on how good it is value for money.

here you go

i run my s1 to work every day, mines worth around 4-5k
keep the car garaged, get a good alarm, get a disc lock, get a second car if u can afford it and keep the rs for summer and drive a snotter during the winter.
your insurance is pretty steep btw another s2 will come along at some point im sure thought about getting your no claims down befor u buy one
dont believe a word the sellers telling u about the car, get someone whos owned one befor or into the rs scene in general. rust is the biggest problem on these cars. get it hpi'ed as well.

DazC: you KNOW it
Julia: Don't worry about what people tell you about buying the car, get it if you want, because in the end if you are happy with if then who gives a s*** what other people thinks
A good advice would be to get the car to a (well known) tuner and get it checked out.

not my facepary
Thats OLD really should get round to changing that!
Cheers for the compliments guys, much appreciated. My looks are bottom priority right now car is first, in fact id rather have a nice Rs turbo over any guy
Went to look at a grey one this afternoon it was £1800 F reg, 118k (not great) clean enough shell, one small bubble on the boot, 17"s, tinted windows and lowered a wee bit, looked quite Pimp really! But my dad being a car dealer bid him like £1200, cos to be fair it wasnt what I wanted although it wud have been cool, it needed a timing belt too, but obviously the guy wouldnt drop - he said his car was worth every penny and my dad should stop wasting time and that he had offended him, my dad said he'd nver get that kind of money for it, and I was really embarresed in the end

Half expected really, my dads really arrogant and offensive when it comes to pricing cars. He owns his own garage and drives an aston martin so he wasnt impressed with the bubble on the boot at all, but he still respects the fact I am in love with Rs turbos and to b honest its his own fault because he had a 91 red one when I was about 5 with 7,000 on the clock, the smell inside that car will I will never forget....mmmmm
tbh the bubble sounds like trouble from the start
Dads can be great when buying cars.. they often see all the negative things while you will see all the good things.

Sounds like a nice one.
It's about as late a one as you'll find at any rate.
Deffo check it for rust, there's probably some on it somewhere.
So if you can't find any, snap it up, especially for that dough.
I paid £8500 for mine five years ago, but mine was low mileage, mint, black, one owner with 6-7k worth of recent engine build/install and 2.5k worth of brand new brake upgrades, so sort of a bargain - sort of
I hardly ever use the old girl, but she still seems to be on a determined mission to deteriorate -
she's currently sat locked in the garage looking very sorry for herself with a flat tyre, a smashed headlight and a rust bubble
in (of all places) the gap between the bottom of the O.S. quarter glass rubber and the top of the quarter panel -
So - even the best ones rust
(deep joy, window out, interior out, panel cut welded and painted/blended, and then put it all back together
) So prepare yourself, you will probably have to spend time, effort and money keeping her right.
Should be worth it though, and if that white one is solid and honest, clean inside and drives right, you should be onto a good thing.
I knew mine since it was a toddler
- less than 3 years old and standard apart from a crap chip and watched it develop into an animal over an 8 year period and when it was just right, I bought it - and i've been regretting it ever since
You'll see if you get one - it's a sort of a love hate relationship
In my humble opinion, don't put 6 x 9s in the shelf unless it's already got holes that need filling - if your back window doesn't get put through by some piece of sh*t stealing your nice new speakers, the shelf will sag, and you'd be amazed at what will devalue a car -
your better off with some nice custom fit units and a base box in the boot - you can take it out then when you want.
And anyway nobody need know that you've got anything worth nicking in the car, coz it won't be visible.
Oh, and IMHO, don't fit a dump valve unless you :-
A) Want your car to run like a bag of sh*t.
B) Want your car to sound silly
C) Want people to laugh at you - apart from 15/17 year old chavs/neds who will
look on in awe struck wonder.
Or
D) Have enormous horsepower and the car requires one and is set up to use one.
Anyway, that's enough waffle from me.
Hope it's a minter and that you get it for the right price.

whaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!
watch out what car you buy get it independantly inspected it may cost £100 but well worth it. i have seen a few s2 been thrashed about the town and bouly cruising. i went down to devon to get my rs as all the s1's up here were either death traps of over priced.
best of luck with the hunt.

It's true though. Some of the girls in there get a little bit bitchy when pictures appear. Understandably if there is a sudden influx of attention seekers they get riddiculed but sometimes it goes a little far imo.
dump valves are not bling! they ruin the drive and they make you sound like a bus/girl racer with a punto trying to make yaself seem like ya goin faster than you really are!
if you fit a big cone filter up ya boost you will get turkey gobble chatter! much better!
..lol....no honestly chatter is the way forward!
and if me ole man had an aston id just jump on his insureance and drive that!
