Default How easy to change outer CV boots on a mk1

Doing an oil change on the daughters Mk1 , noted that the CV boots are getting to end of life. Can I just undo the lower wishbone, cut the old boot off and then split the CV off the splined shaft and swop it, or do I have to unbolt and remove the shaft from the car?

i did mine by undo the driveshaft nut then removing the balljoint (becareful not to split the rubber, as mine had been replaced a few weeks before they were easy to come out)
then i bought a stretchable one so u dont have to take the cv apart, then use an old bottle top to slide it over
yes i would d the inners to
