There all go up in time! Look at mk1 and 2 rs escorts! There silly money rwd staffs are rare cars now lol every one has iver smashed them or broke them for bits saffs will go up to big money in time!
I would for a low mileage standard one no more than 10k if it was modified like I said I love saphs was the car I wanted from the age of about 5. Only thing that lets it down for me other than the price is that its not a 2wd.
if it was sitting in a showroom all polished up with a full writeup and history i could see it getting 15k or very close
I don't think the add matters at all if your after a low mileage mint saff and have the money you will ring the guy and chat too him then go see it! Your not going to make your mind up on a few more pics your going to make your mind up stood next to it! I dare say the guy knows messers will be emailing about pics while genuine people will be making a time to come see it

sorry james i have to disagree with you on this mate

if your looking for 20k for a saff you have to try sell it too people ,as their aint too many people if any will pay that mone for a saff
Agree to disagree lol there's very few people who will ever dream of spending that on a saff! So the ones who will spend that will no what they won't and what there looking at a fancy add won't matter the car it's self matters!
I totally agree Mr Kiely
I know what people are saying need to call and go see it etc if your really interested
But to get that spark to pick up the phone and go see it you really need loads of great pics to grab the Buyer and a real indepth write up of the history of the car IMO!
Now there are always exceptions to well known cars that have been seen etc
But in this day and age I think you really must go above and beyond to get across just how great the car in question is

Why would it matter on price, if it was 2wd or 4x4??? Because lets be honest, if you where giving horrendous money like that for a mint low miler sierra, you wouldnt let it out the door!!
So dragging the "4x4 vs 2wd driving experience" topic out, would be totally irrelevant!! Owning a car like this would just be some cock extension, pub ammo, excuse for a conversation topic!!

i didnt mean which is better john it was only the rarity value .
anyway whats wrong with cock extensions
You could haggle with that most likely!
I bet if it were a 3DR though every one would say it was worth it, remember these were 20K + new for the 4x4 (more expensive that the MK1, that is a more expensive car now), so if you think about it that is not a bad price, considering it rarer and more sought after now!

If you go on other internet sites there is a really big buzz about cosworths these days from non owners/enthusiasts, which can only be a good thing.
The 500s start racing again this year and that will have a big impact on anything cosworth related.
Prices are lead by low miles original cars in the classic market so examples like this are the ones people want and they simply cannot be replicated.
Sometimes you have to buy ahead of the market to secure a good car otherwise they end up out of your grasp, this very nearly happened to me. I bit the bullet and got in just in time.
If your dream car is a mint original saff get in now, as they will soon escalate like all the others. This one is probably priced a couple of years in advance, but you may well be kicking yourself in a few years when the best ones no longer come up for sale.
Cash talks and I am sure it could be secured for less

What seems like a lot of money to some may not be to others
if you paid that sort of money for a car like that wether it'll be this one or another it would be one to store not to rag around in

I think that once the economy picks back up and people start buying toys again, prices of Sapphires will start to creep up, just like they are with 3 doors.
I don't think the price is outrageous, you have to think that almost anyone that advertises a car is always willing to negotiate a price, within a realistic window.
Also, the person that would be in the market for this kind of thing won't really be on a shoe string budget to care care too much about the differece between say £15k and £18k.
Granted id say it's not worth £20k, but also noone on here buys cars like that, respectfully, it's not what they're into and a lot of them won't have the cash.
I just want to end on a positive note and say it's nice to see a great example of a saph, ironically it's probably rarer then most other cosworth models to get one with such low miles. I do like to have some cheeky comments about RS500 prices, but I can totally understand that someone will buy it and cherish it. It's like a Delta, they're expensive as fook now, and their a feckin' lancia for god sake-brilliant cars tho!

i think its a little overpriced, but its a car to buy and use maybe 1-2k miles per year. to keep its value you would have to clean it, clean it and not modify it at all.
i gave strong money for my 4i in 2007, but the value was slashed when it was damaged by a thief and then again when my garage was broken into. original parts are hard to find, but even more significant is body damage. original panel and paint is so desireable.

Seller eitherr dropped on his head or dropped some acid

saffs will go up but i dont think there ever be worth 20k lol
£20k and never be able to drive it..... Every mile coverd the price would drop, be better off leaving £20k on the garage floor in cash at least you'd get round it easier than a orniment car..

The guy behind EVO magazine has just bought a yellow EVO 2 Integrale, advertised at £28k
This is the advert
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifie...inestra/772351
If both ads are correct, the Lancia has done more miles but both look in similar condition. Almost 50% more is being asked for the Lancia. All the comments I've read on car enthusiast sites seem to be very positive in favour of his purchase. No one seems to suggest he is mad to contemplate the purchase. The majority seem to envy his position at being able to buy such a low mileage car from the 90s. Both 4wd turbo specials based on a run of the mill base car.
I seem to recall one of the writers who was in EVO mag from the start saying he'd pick a Sapphire Cosworth 4x4 over an Integrale if he had to choose one car for a cross country run.
I guess one's a brightly coloured piece of Italian exotica now and the other is just a Ford.......
Funny how perceptions change over time
