Default pattern part cambelts , yay or nah ?

anyone got any views on pattern part cambelts ?

Ford want £120 for a ranger cambelt but they are on ebay for £30

i happily fit pattern parts but with a vital part im having second thoughts now

bear in mind the £120 is for the belt only , no tensioner !

any thoughts ?

the only pattern belts i would fit would be ones made by gates as they make the original equipment for most manufacturers anyway

what about changing the tensioner ?

as a matter of course ive always changed the tensioner regardless when ive done a belt but Ford dont bother with a routine belt change and said its not needed unless its noisy ???

I used gates on my Cosworth as have loads of my friends. Pretty sure Ford YB belts are gates anyway?

As for tensioner I'd go OEM personally.

Well its only a 1.4 fiesta but my cambelt was a motorfactors part and its been fine. I'd get better quality products if I owned an RS model though.

most ford belts are made by gates anyhow so your only paying for the ford mark up if you buy from dealer
