Default 1992 Escort cosworth central locking

Anybody solve my problem? I've recently got my hands on a low mileage low owner big turbo escort! Problem is the guy I bought it from had the alarm/imm, shut off by someone and now the central locking don't work, fuse is ok but i can only lock manually

You need to get that alarm/immobiliser working and certified ASAP, and don't leave it unattended outside until you do so, not that it is outside most likely anyway!

I am actually surprised you managed to get insured without this.

I assume it's an aftermarket system? If so it maybe they removed the wiring from the locks, hence it only will work with the alarm, it isn't common practice but then you would use the remote to disarm/arm, unlock/lock.

Only thing you can do is trace back the wiring, you should be able to get to the wiring by removing each kick trim, this is the most likely place the alarm wiring would have been spliced in, and then you can check the power etc at that point.

It's the ford factory fitted that has been butchered, I've had a thathum 1 fitted for the insurance, and yes your right its not left out anyway, the open/close wires are in place in the loom and because its all standard fit nothing I can find has been cut, does anyone know how, other than the fuse, which is live, I can sort the locking, not too bothered about the factory alarm.

I am glad to hear that

The locks will either be switched, from the driver and passenger doors, so I would personally be looking to remove a connector and check for power, there is nothing else you can do really, you have started at the obvious place so this is what I would be doing next.
