Default 03 mondeo tdci starter sqeeling.

as above and wont engage but if i put it in gear and rock it forward and back it will start and drive fine is this the starter or dmf any info welcome thanks cossie.087

Hi if it's what I had, turned out to be the dual mass clutch material was breaking down causing the s/motor to mess up havin taken it out an cleaned twice before I hope this helps.

Take the starter off, and if it's full of swarf from the DMF, then it's new clutch/DMF time! If it's clean, then it's the starter that's goosed.

Almost guaranteed to be the dual mass flywheel causing your problems Im afraid mate !
Just done mine today and was making the same noise you mention, new dual mass flywheel,clutch kit, concentric slave cylinder,and starter motor, not a cheap fix either !!!

get rid of the dmf and fit a soild one ebay sell the conversion for around £250 if I remember right lot less then the dmf and you don't have to worry about it going again
