Default Mk 4 escort 4 door 1.8 zetec conversion from mk 5 130ps

Finally registered for passion ford. Normally just reading other peoples threads.

anyways... last year bought myself a tidy mk 4 1.4lx

in love with the car and cannot part with it, but being a 1.4 carb its not the quickest of motors.

only done 56,000 miles and it runs sweet, which is a shame really as the cvh is going.

so ive been looking for the last couple of months for the 130ps 1.8 zetec engine, 2.0 seemed like too much hassle and money + ive only got a week and a half to do the conversion.

Found a gem on ebay... an escort si cabriolet with 130ps engine. for £320 by the time i got it home.

so the plan is to convert my mk 4 to 1.8 power...

Theres a lot of guides on here but i havent seen any that show an absolute step by step huide, the 200quid orion guide is pretty good.

Any advice would be much appreciated as im going to start the conversion on the 16th dec.

Sounds good, I've read the orion guide,

Once you have it all mounted in the engine bay I would think the wiring will be the hardest part.

Might be a idea to replace the cambelt kit and clutch while the engine is out.

Yeah think ill do the cambelt, clutchwise ill probably leave it as the clutch seemed alright in the escort when i drove it... Ill probably regret it when it needs changing though lol. Ill keep posted with pictures once i start.

Whilst its all off, you might as well do the cambelt kit, water pump, clutch etc.. As you said, saves hassle down the line.
