Default Hub spacers or axle?

I have a mk1 rs and am wanting to space the rear wheels out, as well as upgrade the handling a bit.
Now which is best? Axle or hub spacers? Both give the same effect. And are available for similar prices.
Does any one know Which is best and why??
Thanks

not seen the RS rear beam close up but if its anything like the st170 then rear axle spacers work best as theres no messing about with longer bolts or slip on spacer rings etc, as once fitted its job done with axle spacers and the car looks stock but wider

I use eibach 15mm hubcentric spacers on my ST as the RS wheels have a higher offset so they would catch on the front struts. Been on for a couple of years now with no issues.

I would rather space out the whole hub though as wheel spacers essentially lower the offset of the wheel, hence wearing the bearings quicker.

I was leaning toward axle spacers. Just the hubs are easy and easily reversible

have had both types over the years but I really do think axle ones are the way to go given the choice
