Default Another day of old ford ownership.

So my reverse lights started to flicker or not work the other day. No big deal, just a new reverse switch.
Put in a new reverse switch but couldn't get the plug on it, so whiped it back out to notice the pins where wonky and one was even moving slightly, a few seconds later:

Bit of a pain, but no big deal I'll just get another one tomorrow.
Get the old one back in finger tight, put a ring spanner on it to just nip it up, before it even started to turn the ring spanner fell off. I look to the floor to find this inside the ring spanner:

Does anyone have any good ideas from trying to unscrew the hollow threaded tube that is now stuck in my gearbox?!

No, but that was about 1/18th of a turn with the spanner. I couldn't believe it, only had two fingers hooked over the spanner to make sure I didn't do it to tight. It was really tight when I first removed it so it must have damaged it or something.

Managed to get the broken part out easy enough, with the help of my home made "easy out"

Just chopped a bolt down into a blade, then sharpened it, tapped it in and it unscrewed by hand.

Looking at the broken reverse switch it was some pure monkey metal bs. It had cast seams down the sides and through the threads which is probably why it broke so easy.
