Just fitted a new donor cosworth engine,, when it was running in the workshop it was so quiet no tappet noise or anything, left it running for 10/15 mins,, to get it warmed up as well

Just give a good run and the tappets have started to be noisey, it sounds like a different engine(

Also the Oil guage goes up to 8bar and doesnt move while the ignition is on..

Any ideas???

 

Just to add ,, running the engine from cold again is very quiet,, so its just tapping when its hot

 

How long has the engine been sat before you fitted it and was oil drained and left empty? Whilst sat out of car?

 

there was oil in the engine when i got it,, and i think it was out of the car about 4 weeks,,

 

Just a thought might be no good to you, but who knows..??
I have for a few years been having trouble with one of my combis, Some times it would go for days or weeks ok, then out of the blue over heat for no reason at all, well not one I could find. Eventualy got real bad. While I was having this prob my tappets were hell noisy. The other week I sorted the problem.. suddenly the tappet have gone great nice and quiet and the engine ticks over better it is a diferent engine.???
I think it could have been cold or hot spots in the engine that made the tapets noisy, as I had to flush it as part of the overheating cure. Check you do not need to top up water now you have ran the engine.

Drain the oil asap it could be anything in there.

 

The oil has been changed to Titan race pro, 10/50

I was wondering if it could have anything to do with cam timming as they changed the belt when the engine was being fitted??

 

Make sure they havnt timed the crank pulley slot to the front cover lug !
