How many pickups depends on what you mount the sensor on. I have a better solution though.

You need one of these.....

Fit that in the gearbox speedo cable hole and wire it up. It has 3 wires, one earth, one ign live and the other goes to the stack. I have the wiring and settings somewhere too but may take a while to dig out. (or give Martin Hadland a ring as he told me about it)

i fitted mine on the side of my hub (205 fwd) and belive it or not i use the cv boot clip (made of metal) as my pickup,

then measure the circumfrance on the tyre being used and enter that into the dash

mine is 99.9999% as accurate as the gps speed on my phone, so i'm happy with that

I had mine reading off the brake bell bolts, but broke the sensor (about £100 odd!! ) when I was getting the disc off one day!!

Although you can get them on ebay for about £60 now, so I wanted to find another solution!! Martoon let me know about it.

Mine is spot on as you can adjust the wheel circumference in the settings to get it the same as GPS speed.

I had a mare with mine after accidentally reseting it. I have had to set mine up on 3 pickups with the wheel far smaller than it is its all I could do to get it right. Mine is run off afaik abs sensor and it seems it must read in a 2,3,2 resolution or there abouts so I've had to compensate in wheel size, either way with a bit of tweeking and gps speedo its easy enough to sort out.

I used the stack sensor, calculated rolling radius of tyre and amount of pick ups per 1 rotation as shown in the stack book an used 1 pick up as that is all that's needed,

You can use anything metallic as a pick up, I glued a heavy duty magnet to the front driveshaft

Was within 0.5mph and tested with the fast ford timing gear at brunters during a mag thrash up to 150mph
