Boot struts gone bad!?
My 3door boot struts don't come close to hold the boot lid and picnic table up.
Are there replacements available and are they unique to the cossy?
There is some on the bay but doesn't specify if they are cosworth?
Many thanks
Grant

I just replaced both of mine tonight on my RS500, I bought them online from a company called SGS Engineering Solutions. They asked me to check the serial/part number on my struts which was 83 BB-A406 A10-CD they then sent me 2 new struts part number GSC1419 at a total price of Ł37.54 next day delivery.

On most Ford boot struts, look for a little white or blue line near the end of the strut. This tells you which version it is for.
1 line is normal tailgate
2 lines is spoiler tailgate
3 lines is estate models (where applicable)
Hope it helps.

90 spec spoliers require more manly struts, the 88 spec struts don't hold a 90 spec bootlid and spoiler up lol
You can still get the boot struts from Ford, very expensive though at around Ł120 for the pair.My new ones failed within 3 days,so Ford replaced them under warranty, had the 2nd set on the car for about 6 weeks now,all seems ok so far.
Thanks.Lee.
